Hi! I’m Kristina.
I’m a writer and nonprofit communications professional committed to advancing a more equitable, inclusive, sustainable, and compassionate world.
With nearly a decade and a half of writing, editing, and communications experience, I’ve held professional roles across the nonprofit sector and online media space and hold a Master of Public Administration and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Writing, both from Grand Valley State University.
I currently work as the Director of Strategic Communications for the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. I also run The Typewritery for fun—it’s a creative pop-up studio that specializes in custom typewritten poems and poetry experiences.
In addition to my work, I serve on the boards of Elk Rapids Community Cupboard and Immigration Law and Justice Michigan. I also volunteer with Let These Animals Live Cat Sanctuary.
Born in Detroit to Croatian immigrants, I’ve lived across Michigan, in Croatia, and in Louisiana. Now residing in Northern Michigan, I share my life with my husband, David, two rescue cats, and a rescued pit bull terrier.
A selection of my favorite things
Some of my interests and passions include creative writing, reading, cooking, baking, animal rights, environmental protection, advocacy, interior design, board games, watching movies and short films, spending time in nature, enjoying delicious macaroni and cheese, hosting guests for special events, and exploring new places and experiences through travel.
My absolutely favorite way to spend a day is going out to eat with loved ones, lounging in the sun (preferably at the Croatian seaside) with a magazine or good book, watching a great film, enjoying a stellar cocktail. and spending time with my precious pets.
